Learning & Development Seminars

Learning & Development conducts several seminars each semester that are specifically geared toward career management, including Career Assessment and Development, Overcoming Career Roadblocks, Baby Boomers Need Career Challenges Too, Behavioral Interviewing, Mid-Career Resume Writing, and other programs that address important professional competencies.

Career and Personality Tests and Assessments (no cost)

Some of these assessments are specifically career/ interest-related, while others are general personality assessments. All are presented here for your information.

NOTE: Human Resources does not endorse or recommend, nor does it vouch for the validity or applicability of any assessment listed here that is not part of a formal L&D program.

  • Learning and Development Seminars - several L&D classes ask you take an assessment. Your individual results are provided at the seminar, and discussions of how to interpret and apply the results are presented. (Assessment results and interpretations are only provided for those who attend the seminar.) Some of the classes L&D provides that include assessments are:
    • Career Assessment and Development (Strong Interest Inventory)
    • Introduction to Communication Styles (Myers Briggs Type Indicator [MBTI])
    • Getting to Know Your Interpersonal Needs (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation-Behavior [FIRO-B])
    • Assessing Your Emotional Intelligence (Bar-On EQi)
    • Conflict Management (Thomas-Kilman Instrument [TKI])
  • Motivational Appraisal of Personal Potential (MAPP) - A sample interpretation is free. Detailed/complete appraisal is offered for a fee. Tells you the kinds of career environments you would do well in.
  • Princeton Review Career Quiz - You will get a general description of your interests, skills, and preferred style, as well as a list of careers that all of this points to.
  • Career Connection - career preference test that gives a "Holland Code." It is relatively brief and offers some possible occupations to consider that match your Code.
  • Keirsey Sorter - a temperament/character personality assessment.
  • Enneagram Test - a personality type assessment. This is an abbreviated version of the test (38 questions, vs 144 on the original).
