Senior Research Engineer, Robotics Institute (Pittsburgh, PA)

Carnegie Mellon’s Robotics Institute is seeking to fill the position of Senior Research Engineer.
Duties: Conduct research in machine learning and computer vision; apply various machine learning and computer vision algorithms in autonomous vehicle applications; design software architecture for embedded perception system and autonomous vehicle; perform field-test and data analysis of autonomous vehicles; and work as a senior member of team to carry out complex or leading-edge scientific and technical efforts related to research projects.
Requirements: Master’s degree in CS, Robotics, or related field; minimum four years of experience in robotic field, including in-depth experience in computer vision, machine learning, and mathematical analysis.

Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematical Sciences (Pittsburgh, PA)

Requirements: Ph.D. degree in Mathematics; experience with an established research program in the specialized area of Computational Finance; and experience as an established classroom instructor.

Principal Software Engineer, Database Administrator, Computing Services Division (Pittsburgh, PA)

Duties: Install Oracle, Ingres, and Data Warehousing software, tools, clients, configuration, and maintenance; logical and physical database design; database and data warehouse performance monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and reporting; database backup, recovery, and reorganization; business continuity management including, management of a hot standby database; provide support for concurrent managers, Workflow, web servers, and form servers; liaison with system administrators; OS system administration; security planning and oversight; support for developers in the design, development, testing, installation, and maintenance of database systems and applications, including J2EE and Java Servlet applications; maintain multiple instances for test, development, training, and production databases; provide off hours support for all Administrative Computing systems; apply required system upgrades, patches, and enhancements; establish, maintain, and enforce standards for the database environment; write technical documentation, maintain active and current knowledge of database technology through independent study, training, and conference attendance; and provide technical consulting and leadership within the department and across the university. Minimum salary of $42,598.00 per year, 37.5 hrs. per week.
Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Information Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related field; minimum four years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator supporting both Ingres and Oracle database production environments; minimum two years of experience supporting Java development and production environments; and experience converting Ingres database to Oracle, running Oracle and Ingres databases under HP, SUN, and Linux operating systems, and supporting a production data warehouse environment.
