Measuring Results

Improving diversity at the university is an ongoing process, and we need to measure the results of our initiatives to see which are working—and which aren't.

Each year since 2002, the DAC has issued an annual report detailing progress made and identifying areas in need of improvement with respect to diversity and our campus community. Information from this report is shared by the President in his annual State of Diversity address, given each year as part of our Day On celebration of Martin Luther King Day.

Each college and administrative unit has developed a diversity plan as part of their larger strategic plans. Diversity is also part of our university wide Advisory Board process. These advisory boards, which consist of panels of experts from across the nation, have assessed strategic directions and provided counsel to each of the university's academic and many of its administrative departments.

Our work to date has seen an increase in diversity among many of our populations, including our Board of Trustees, our staff and our undergraduate student population. For more information, you can access all of the DAC's annual reports at http://hr.web.cmu.edu/drg/overview/report.html
