- You may receive tuition benefits for the current/upcoming term only - benefits are not paid retroactively.
- Benefits are for tuition charges only, and do not cover fees, housing or other costs. Undergraduate tuition benefits cannot exceed the tuition costs, and are reduced by any other awards designed to cover the same charges if all benefits available exceed total eligible costs.
- Semesters of benefits for children attending another university may not be transferred to a different dependent, even if a child receives benefits for fewer than 8 full semesters.
- Human Resources is not involved in the admissions process for any school – children of faculty and staff are not guaranteed admission into any university program.
Eligibility Requirements:
Faculty and Staff Eligibility Requirements:
- Full-time, benefits-eligible employees may receive this benefit on behalf of eligible children.
- Service requirement for staff: Staff must complete five full years of service in order to be eligible to receive tuition benefits for their children. At least two years of that service must have been in full-time benefits-eligible employment.
- Part-time employment years in which an employee was benefits-eligible and worked at least 1,000 hours count as 1/2 year toward the service requirement, for up to three years of credit.
- Employment years in which an employee was not benefits eligible and/or did not work at least 1,000 hours constitutes a break in service in regard to benefits with a length-of-service component. Such an employment year will reset your service years to 0 for this requirement.
Children Eligibility Requirements:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program before the age of 30.
- Either naturally born to or legally adopted by the faculty or staff member.
- Properly claimed on the staff member's federal income tax return as a dependent.
