Banking Services

The Carnegie Mellon Federal Credit Union is a non-profit, member-owned, financial institution that has been serving the Carnegie Mellon community for over 60 years. Because the Credit Union is non-profit and member-owned, money made in excess of expenses is returned to the membership through competitive loan rates and savings dividends. The Credit Union is federally chartered, regulated, and insured by the National Credit Union Administration, which issues strict operating guidelines for the credit unions it regulates. Visit the Carnegie Mellon Federal Credit Union website for more information: http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/org/cmu-cu/.

Enhanced Banking Services for Faculty and Staff

Carnegie Mellon has partnered with PNC Bank and Citizens Bank to enable university employees to have access to enhanced banking services. PNC’s WorkPlace Banking was implemented at Carnegie Mellon in November 2003. Citizens Bank-at-Work was implemented in March 2004.

All faculty, staff, CPA or student employees with direct deposit into a PNC Bank or Citizens Bank account can receive enhanced services at no cost – all you need to do is sign up for a checking account with direct deposit with one of these banks and asked to be enrolled in the PNC WorkPlace Banking or Citizens Bank at Work program. These programs have many benefits that can save you money and make your financial management easier, including no-fee or reduced-fee services and loans. The basic plans are free of charge - all you have to do is enroll.

In addition, starting in August 2006, faculty and staff ID cards can be linked to a PNC bank account. This will enable you to use your ID card at ATM machines and at stores as a debit card (requiring use of your 4-digit PIN). That's one less card you'll need to carry in your wallet. Simply visit a PNC branch to have your card swiped to encode the information on the card.

Contact each institution to find out about their programs:
