Interactive Theatre

Format

Each Interactive Theatre session has three components. First, actors present a scene on the selected topic. Then, at the conclusion of the scene, the audience asks questions of the characters regarding their thoughts, feelings, motivations, and actions. Finally, a facilitator processes the group’s responses and facilitates an awareness, insight and learning discussion, linking the scene and subsequent discussion with campus applications.

The program does not prescribe definitive solutions - rather, it provides a forum from which participants can work together to enhance understanding and inclusion through varying perspectives and the generation of dialogue. Interactive Theater helps all participants to realize that everyone has a role in leading the organization toward inclusion, collegiality, effectiveness, respect and achievement.

The purpose is to provoke awareness and discussion, not stereotypes and easy answers regarding the topic. While the Interactive Theatre company is well read on the subject, they should not be viewed as experts on the subject matter.
