Learning and Development Seminars

We encourage all Carnegie Mellon employees to attend at least one seminar per semester to foster personal and career growth. Most Learning and Development seminars are offered at no cost to employees. Sessions typically last 2-4 hours, with a focus on providing practical tips that you can apply immediately. Workshops are geared to specific audiences where noted. Register early to avoid being placed on a waiting list - all reservations are made on a first-come, first-served basis, and many sessions fill up quickly. Please notify us if cannot attend a session or need an accommodation to participate.

Waiting List

If a workshop is full, you will be notified by e-mail and placed on a waiting list. If a registered person cancels or another session is scheduled, you will also be notified by e-mail.

Cancellations

We hope to see you in class, but in order to avoid scheduling conflicts we’ve made canceling a registration easy for you. You can cancel your registration online (starting in Spring 2007) or via email ldhelp@andrew.cmu.edu any time prior to the cancellation deadline. Classes that involve the use of an assessment, instrument or videographer require five business days notice. Canceling before the deadline ensures that you will not be charged a cancellation fee and enables us to offer someone on our wait list an opportunity to participate in the program.

Beginning in the spring of 2007, Learning and Development will begin charging a late cancellation/no show fee of $50 for classes involving an assessment, instrument or videographer. These classes will be noted on the registration web site and you will be required to enter your Oracle string in order to register for them. Please note that this is not a charge to attend the class, but rather a fee that is charged to registered participants who fail to attend the session and do not cancel their registration. The fee is intended to cover the additional expense associated with offering these classes.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in Learning and Development programs. We strive to continually improve and expand our offerings and to provide the best customer service possible. We believe that managing expenses and course registration closely will enable us to better address the learning and development needs of our campus community.

ADA Accommodations

Carnegie Mellon makes a significant effort to provide physical and programmatic access to all members of the university community and campus visitors. If you require an accommodation to participate in a Learning and Development seminar, contact LDhelp@andrew.cmu.edu at least three weeks prior to the program, even if you have been placed on the waiting list for the seminar. We may be unable to satisfy requests for accommodation that are received later than 3 weeks in advance.

Human Resources reserves the right to cancel any workshop which does not meet the minimum participation level.
