Mail Order Prescriptions

Using the mail order service to fill ongoing medications will save you money, time and effort.

• For the cost of a 60-day supply, you can get up to 90 days worth of the medication. (See Mail Order Copays)
• To order refills, you can use the telephone, Internet, mail or FAX.
• You need not worry about running to a pharmacy every month - instead, you only need to get refills four times a year.

Mail Order Procedures

Caremark/PharmaCare Direct Maintenance Medication Prescription Plan (MMPP) - for all plans except the Highmark HMO

The Maintenance Medication Prescription Plan is the Caremark mail-order program for those taking maintenance medications on an ongoing basis. Although you may fill your maintenance medication prescriptions at a retail pharmacy, please note that an additional charge will apply after the third fill of the same maintenance drug at a retail pharmacy. You will be charged the retail copays for your supply PLUS the difference between the retail and the mail order price of the prescription.

Getting Started with Mail Order from CVS/Caremark:

1. To enroll in Caremark Mail Service, register online by logging in to MyBenefits or call the customer service number on the back of your Member ID card. To place your first order, you’ll need to complete a Mail Order Service Patient Profile Enrollment Form (.pdf) for yourself and your covered family members. Simply mail the form or submit the information online.
2. Then, send the original prescription to Caremark Mail Service.
3. You can pay for your prescriptions by credit card and, for orders you submit by mail, with a check or money order.
4. Your medications will be delivered free to your home within 10 to 14 days.
5. If you have any questions about your prescription order, or don’t receive your medication in 14 days, call the customer service number on the back of your Member ID card.

There are four ways to order prescription refills:

• Online: refill prescriptions from this website www.PharmaCare.com
• By phone: 1-800-222-3383 connects members to an automated refill system
• By mail: a pre-addressed, postage-paid envelope is included with each order
• By fax: physicians can fax in new or refill orders

To ensure you never miss a dose, can also sign up for the e-refill reminder program. With this service, you’ll get convenient email notices when it’s time to refill or renew a prescription.

Caremark/PharmaCare Direct also maintains a walk-in facility where you can drop off and/or pick up maintenance prescriptions.
This can be especially convenient if you need the medication immediately. The walk-in facility is open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. It is located at 620 Epsilon Drive, RIDC Park, Blawnox, PA 15238. (To use the walk-in facility for refills of maintenance medications, you should call 1-800-222-3383 to order the refill, and let the representative know that you will be coming into the walk-in facility to pick it up. Or you can bring a script with you and drop it off at the facility)

Merck-Medco Rx Services (for Highmark HMO participants)

This mail-order service enables employees to get long-term use medications at substantial savings over using retail pharmacies, and allows for easy phone and Internet ordering.

You must complete a Merck-Medco Health, Allergy & Medication Questionnaire (.pdf) before or accompanying your first order.

Mail Order Tips

• For cost savings, use this service if you need more than twice the retail supply.
• Have your doctor write the prescription for a 90-day supply with refills, NOT as a 30-day supply.
• Be sure the prescription is signed and written legibly.
• Each prescription must be written on a separate sheet.
• Allow up to 1-2 weeks for new prescriptions (refills take less time.)
• If you need to start taking a drug immediately, ask your physician for a second script for a short-term supply that you can fill at a retail pharmacy to hold you over until your mail order prescription arrives.
