Health Care Flexible Spending Account (HCFSA)

Carnegie Mellon also provides a Health Care Flexible Spending Account, where you can deposit pre-taxed salary dollars to be used towards your medical needs. This will reduce the amount you pay in taxes, which saves you money and helps you to plan for your health care expenses. The HCFSA can be used to cover deductibles, copayments or procedures not covered by your health, dental or vision plan. (However, because your monthly premiums are already paid pre-tax, they cannot be reimbursed by the HCFSA.) You need not participate in a Carnegie Mellon insurance plan to take advantage of the HCFSA.
