Benefits Available to ... Dependents
If you are a benefits-eligible employee, you may also cover your eligible dependents for certain benefits. Eligible dependents include:
- legally married spouse
- registered domestic partner
- unmarried dependent children up to (but not including) age 19
- unmarried dependent children from age 19 up to age 23 if a full-time student

- unmarried dependent children of any age who are incapable of self-support due to total disability

Domestic Partners (DP)
Carnegie Mellon extends benefits to same- and opposite-sex partners of employees who meet certain eligibility criteria. The DP registration policy contains the guidelines regarding eligibility and the registration document(s) required by you.

Each Domestic Partner Registration Packet includes:
- Registration Statement of Domestic Partnership for Insurance Benefits*
- Registration Statement of Domestic Partnership for Work-Life Benefits*
- Request for ID Cards for Family Members and Registered Domestic Partners
- Termination Statement of Domestic Partnership and
- Benefits Enrollment/Change Form
*The eligibility requirements for certain Work-Life Benefits for DPs differs from the eligibility criteria for Insurance Benefits. A DP couple must have been in a relationship for 12 months and be able to demonstrate the committed nature of the partnership for a DP to receive Insurance Benefits. A DP couple must have been in a committed relationship for 3 months for a DP to receive Work-Life Benefits.
