HealthySolutions is the approach Carnegie Mellon takes in regards to our benefits. We hope that our benefits offerings can help you choose smart and live well throughout the year. HealthySolutions encompasses three driving priorities in our benefits program: Choice, Control, and Well-being.
Benefits Enrollment and Eligibility

- Benefits for full-time or part-time faculty and staff, dependent children and spouse/domestic partner, retirees, those separated from the university, those on an international assignment or AFL-CIO Local 95 - IUOE union members.
- Learn more about our benefit options. Read the Benefits Workbook for Full-Time Employees (.pdf) or Benefits Workbook for Part-Time Employees (.pdf). Our benefits are generally divided into two broad categories:
- Insurance Benefits: these are benefits that provide protection/coverage in a variety of circumstances in regards to your health and life. One can only enroll in these benefits upon their hire, when a qualifying life change is experienced, or at Open Enrollment.
- Work-Life Benefits: these are benefits that assists employees in their personal and professional development, financial planning, and balancing their home and work lives.
- Enroll in your insurance benefits plans through our employee self-service system, HR Connection. You may enroll for/change your coverage only under three circumstances:
- as a new employee, within 31 days of your start date
- during the annual Open Enrollment period each November
- within 31 days of a qualified family or life status change
