Leadership Symposium:

Effective Strategies for
Leading the Best

March 16, 2006

WELCOME to Carnegie Mellon’s Faculty and Staff Leadership Symposium!

The focus of the Leadership Symposium is your leadership development – providing you with the strategies, information and resources to enable you and those reporting to you to achieve your organizational goals.

The Leadership Symposium will include an opening breakfast and welcome by Mary Jo Dively and, following lunch, a keynote address by Denise Rousseau, H. J. Heinz II Professor of Organization Behavior and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Organizational Behavior.

In addition, we will offer a variety of sessions in the areas of Leadership Development, Management Practices, Legal Updates, and Culture and Workplace Environment. Concentrate on one area of focus, or mix and match courses from the tracks to meet your needs.

The Leadership Symposium promises to be an opportunity for you to develop your skills and learn more about managerial issues of special interest to you. The Symposium is an excellent opportunity for networking and constructive dialogue for all participants.

Based upon your feedback, we know that materials from these sessions are valued references, even if you are unable to attend a particular presentation.  As a result, materials from most sessions will be available through this website and HANDOUTS WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED at the symposium.  If you wish to bring these materials to a concurrent session for note-taking, please print the materials out in advance and bring them with you. Presentation materials will continue to be available on the website after the symposium.

My special thanks to our sponsors: TIAA-CREF for lunch, PNC Bank for the continental breakfast, and Howard Hanna Real Estate Services and Monster Worldwide/TMP Advertising for providing the breaks, as well as additional sponsorship funding from Monster/TMP

I look forward to seeing you on March 16th!
